Charleston is recognized for its premier bars with a twist of sophisticated Southern charm that seems to never fall below a less than superior reputation. To that end, this vibrant southern city has enjoyed its fair share of new, convivial bar scenes this year. Make sure to schedule a night out at one, or many, of these well-established bars while you’re enjoying a night downtown in the Holy City.

Maison: A swanky French bistro meets classic Charleston style at this newfound upper King Street bar. Black and white rattan chairs adorn the bar, while pendant light fixtures, copper cocktail shakers, and a sleek bar beckon guests. Optimal for an afternoon glass of rose or a refreshing weekend cocktail, Maison is the perfect spot to escape the Charleston heat in style. Founded by the former Sous Chef of The Ordinary, it’s no surprise the menu includes extraordinary light bites such as gem lettuce, pate de champagne, and steak tartare, which lives up to the reputation one would expect.
Unsure of what drink to pair with your dish? Leave it to the talented bartender to create a sophisticated elixir cocktail or a refreshing glass of bubbles. Bon appetit!
Malagón: The innovative creators of the highly sought after European-style restaurant, Chez Nous, introduce us to Malagón, a whole-hearted Spanish themed restaurant located on Spring Street. A matte black business sign with a single letter, ‘M’, for Malagon is a gentle nod to traditional Spanish elegance. The careful design goes well beyond the exterior, where it makes a strong appearance in dinner selections and beverages. The owners spent a significant amount of time in Spain tasting a variety of wine and sampling signature Spanish tapas in efforts to bring an authentic taste of Spain to Charleston.
