Looking for something a little different? Compete, or come out and cheer on, your favorite facial hair at 9th Annual Beard & Mustache Championships. The weekend-long event kicks off at the pre-party on Friday night at the Tattooed Moose on Johns Island, moves downtown to Home Team on Saturday afternoon for the fierce competition, and wraps up at the farewell brunch Sunday morning. A percentage of ticket sales goes to Lowcountry Women with Wings and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Piccolo Spoleto Festival’s annual Family Day is happening again this year. In addition to the Charleston Farmers Market (which occurs every Saturday), Marion Square will host the Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition, as well as arts & crafts, and dancing for the whole family. Things kick up a notch with a performance by Atlanta’s “wildest community band”, the Seed & Feed Marching Abominable. The day culminates in an evening concert of show tunes and Broadway favorites along with some free patriotic music to honor the men and women who serve in the armed forces.
