A few blocks back from the beach, you’ll find this colorful and modern retreat, tucked away on a quiet road surrounded by tranquil wooded and marsh views. The owners of this home have a unique story and our relationship with them began as they were searching for a second home to their primary residence in England. After they fell in love with Charleston, they found Folly Beach to be the ideal location for their home away from home.
This wonderful couple first came to us as they were looking for a home on the beach where their parents could escape harsh New England winters and their infant daughter could grow up spending summer vacations. Keeping in mind their goals, budget, and wishlist our Luxury Simplified Real Estate team was able to find them their dream vacation home. With room to sleep 10, “Helena’s Hideaway,” named for their newborn daughter Helena, is a place to make family memories. When their family is not visiting they’ve decided to open their home up to guests so that others can enjoy it as much as they do.
This family home exudes modern luxury but still embodies a classic beach vibe. The hammock strung up between two palms beckons the relaxation that awaits, and the backyard offers everything you need from the outdoor shower, grill, and cornhole game boards waiting for a bean bag toss to begin. The home itself, with its distinctive bright blue floors, spacious open floor plan, media room, and large yard for outdoor living, exemplifies Folly’s funky vibe and easy way of life.
The morning sun floods in from the wide windows, illuminating the open living space. During a stay at “Helena’s Hideaway,” sunny mornings begin with coffee and maybe a breakfast spread you’ve cooked up in the fully equipped kitchen. The eat-in kitchen offers bar style seating in addition to the formal dining area, and the large table on the screened porch is perfect for enjoying outdoor dining and marsh breezes.
For a day at the beach, all you have to do is pack a beach bag, stock a cooler, apply sunscreen, and walk (or take the golf cart) to the nearby 6th street beach access. From basking in the sun to bobbing in the ocean waves, Folly Beach offers unlimited relaxation. On either side of Folly Pier, the County Park provides amenities including trained lifeguards to help keep an eye on ocean conditions and swimmers, and Pier 101 is just up the stairs where you can grab a cold drink and lunch if you don’t want to leave the beach.
Back at the Hideaway after a day in the sand, the private outdoor shower is convenient for a quick rinse off before heading inside to freshen up. You can choose to enjoy dinner at any of Folly Beach’s local restaurants such as Jack of Cups, Chico Feos, or Rita’s Seaside Grille and explore Folly’s diverse nightlife scene, or stay in and enjoy cocktails and conversation with family and friends. Those are the nights to fire up the outdoor grill, put on your favorite playlist, and enjoy a casual evening at your home away from home. Wind down with a night cap or a movie in the media room.
