Known as “The Edge of America,” Folly Beach is home to some of the best surfing on the East Coast, and surfers from all around the region flock to “The Washout” to spend the day catching waves. Folly Beach is also a popular fishing destination. You can fish directly from the shore or off of the iconic Folly Beach Pier. The pier stretches more than 1,000 feet out into the Atlantic Ocean. There are also several boat charters on the island that will take you deep sea fishing.
If you want to explore more of the island, you can do so by bike. Folly Beach has several bike paths and it is a great way to explore the more than 6 miles of oceanfront. Kayaking is another popular way to explore the Island. You can kayak along the Atlantic Ocean side of the island or explore the marsh and tidal creeks on the Folly River side.
