Here at Luxury Simplified Retreats we pride ourselves on attention to detail and guest experience. One of the things that sets us apart is our knowledgable team who work hard behind the scenes to ensure that every guest has a wonderful Charleston experience. Driving our focus on guest experience is our Guest Relations and Concierge Manager, Zach Rogers. Get to know the guy behind the smiling face that greets many of our guests and find out his number one recommendation for every Charleston visitor.

Q: Tell us a little bit about your background, where are you from?

A: I’m originally from Salisbury, Maryland, a small town on the coast. Growing up near the beach, I learned to love the water at a young age and spent a lot of my free time surfing with friends. I guess I’m a bit of a surfer turned aspiring farmer. I’m currently raising ducks at my home here in Charleston, actually.

Q: What brought you to Charleston?

A: Well, I originally moved to Charleston to attend the College of Charleston in 2010 where I completed a degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management. After graduating I decided to stay in Charleston because hospitality is such a huge industry in town, there were plenty of employment opportunities. I’ve got my job, my friends, and the beach here – I can’t ask for much more than that!

Q: What’s your role in the Luxury Simplified Retreats team?

A: I actually recently moved into a new role as Guest Relations and Concierge Manager. I’m still doing a lot of the same things that I enjoyed about my previous role. In a nutshell, I manage the guests experience from the time they book their reservation through the time that they check out. But I have to say, my favorite part of job is introducing first time visitors to Charleston, sharing all the cool restaurants and fun things to do.

Q: Which is your favorite Luxury Simplified retreat and why?

A: Downtown, I love Studio 36 because it has a cool, spacious outdoor area that is great for hanging out and its right in the middle of everything on King Street. On Folly Beach, I’d have to say The View. The beachfront location makes for a killer view with plenty of space, and it has an awesome rooftop. The best part is being able to wake up, step out the back door, and hit the waves with my board.

Q: What’s your favorite local Charleston restaurant and why?

A: Probably R. Kitchen  on Rutledge Ave in downtown Charleston. It has a unique concept where you sit at a bar overlooking the kitchen while the chef prepares food right in front of you – similar to hibachi, but better. The menu changes every day so there’s always something new to try. And of course the food is really good.

Q: What’s the most common question that you are asked by guests, and the answer?

A: A lot of times guests are wondering, ‘what’s the best thing to do in Charleston?’ … which is quite overarching and depending on the interests of the guest, the answer will vary. It’s great because it allows me to get to know our guests better and provide a custom recommendation for their “best thing to do.”

Getting ready to celebrate his two year anniversary with Luxury Simplified Retreats, Zach always puts our guests first. He knows each of our properties inside and out and is always happy to provide activity recommendations whether it be where to catch some live music, getting your fridge stocked before your arrival, or anything in between.

If you have an upcoming reservation with us, you’ll definitely be hearing from someone on our team, and if you’re lucky it will be Zach, our expert on “everything Charleston!” And if you haven’t booked yet, maybe it’s time to plan your next Charleston vacation and give him a quick “hello!”
